Amid war, 180 Kashmiri Students Stuck In Ukraine

 

Srinagar, Feb 24: As Russia announced military operations in Ukraine, at least 180 Kashmiri students are stuck in Ukraine while as Jammu and Kashmir administration has initiated measures to bring back all the students on waa r footing basis.

"As 180 Kashmiri students are stranded in #Ukraine. We Brought matter into the tice of @OfficeOfLGJandK for the earliest EvEvacuation are in constant touch with them. Rajbhavan initiates process to bring back all students safely on war footing basis," J&K Students' Association Spokesperson, Nasir Khuehami wrote on Twitter

"@OfficeOfLGJandK is cooperating sincerely and are in constant touch with @MEAIndia for safe and earliest evacuation of Kashmiri students from Ukraine," Khuehami said in another tweet.

"My son is studying in Ukraine and I am worried as I have lost contact with him," said Aijaz Ahmed, a resident of Hyderpora, Srinagar, as per news agency KNO.

He said parents of all the children studying in Ukraine have decided to assemble at press enclave Srinagar to press for the safe return of Kaof Kashmiri students.

Officials said the Rajbhawan has started the process to bring back all the students studying in Ukraine on a faa st track basis.

"We are in touch with Ukrainian Embassy officials and will ensure all Kashmiri students are safely brought back," the official said.
