Srinagar, Dec 15: The Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC) Humhama in Budgam lacks basic facilities, due to which residents face many inconveniences.
The local residents alleged that the UPHC neither have a proper infrastructure, nor a qualified staff to run it.
“This UPHC lacks basic facilities for the patients. If any emergency emerges, we have to shift patients to District Hospital Budgam,” the locals alleged.
They also said that the Health Center lack staff and infrastructure. “The whole UPHC has three rooms. One room has been dedicated for laboratory, but lacks a technician to run it,” they said.
"We are not able to get a simple pregnancy care, there is no staff at night time. Staff comes here to kill time. We don't get any kind of easy by this.", a local resident Ab Hamid Bhat said.
With non-availability of the facilities, emergency patients like delivery cases and accident victims face lot of problems. “For the sack of public well-being, we urge LG led administration to upgrade this UPHC and depute proper staff,” they said.
When this reported contacted officials at this UPHC, they said, “We get a timely supply of supplements for UPHC, however, the unavailability of a pharmacist makes the distribution and management of the same quite hectic. Icing on cake is that we even don't have a sweeper. We had registered several complaints to CMO, but to no avail.”
The health center was established in the year 1988 and then upgraded to UPHC in 2017. It has only two rooms and one testing lab, but lacks machines and technicians.
