Meet MJ Nasir, who is making name in dancing

Syed Tajamul Bukhari

Srinagar, Jan 06: He was just two years old when he lost his father. He then started working at a local “Dhaba” to help his family.

But now MJ Nasir is teaching dance to students and wants to train them for nation and international competitions.

He wants to show it to the world that dancing here in Kashmir has a good future as many artists are representing Kashmir at National Level and in Bollywood as well.

“I want to give a message to society to change mindset and stop spreading hate, if you can’t support the real talent,” he said.

Nasir said that so far, no such dancer has done anything special. “So I want to break the barriers and want to train the youth who can represent Kashmir at every level,” he said.

He said that different people do different kinds of work to earn their livelihood.

“A cameraman shoots video and photos to earn and singers sing different songs and musicians plays different musical instruments to earn, event management earns by organizing events. Likewise, I also earn using Dance because he is good in that field and it’s his field of work. Everyone has their own work experience in their field where they can give their best always,” he said.

He said that his journey was not easy as no one came at that time to help him. “No one helped me when I was in need. I wanted to do something for my family and end their hardships.,” he said.

He said that some problems remain there forever but we need to stay strong and face all barriers.

“I am teaching Dance and making my bread and butter and great scholars say if you are good at something never do it for free,” he believes.
