Police bust Al-Badr module in Sopore; 4 militants, 3 associates arrested

Baramullah, Feb 12: Police on Saturday claimed to have busted Al-Badr militant module by arresting four militants and three associates of the outfit in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramullah district.
“Initially three militants were arrested during a cordon and a search operation at Rawoocha Rafiabad. During search operation, three uncategorized terrorists were arrested along with incriminating material including arms and ammunition,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
The three were identified as Waris Tantry of Rawoocha Rafiabad, Amir Sultan Wani of Nowpora Sopore and Tariq Ahmed Bhat of Chontipora Handwara.
During sustained questioning, the arrested militants revealed that they were working for Al-Badr for the last two years the directions of their handlers Yousuf Balousi of Pakistan and Khursheed of Anantnag who is now in Pakistan. They were tasked to revive militancy in Rafiabad Sopore and recruit youth for the outfit.
Later, police said another militnat, Ashraf Nazir Bhat, and three associates, Mohammad Ashraf Malik of Drungsoo, Mohammad Afzal Thokar of Kalamabad Mawar Handwara and Shabir Ahmed Shah of Sherhama Mawar Handwara were also arrested.
“Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition, huge amounts of cash and other material were also recovered from their possession," he added.
