Cop injured, three shops damaged in Khwaja Bazar grenade attack

SRINAGAR, Feb 18: A policeman suffered minor injuries after suspected militant’s hurled a grenade on a joint party of police and CRPF at Khwaja Bazar area in the old city here this afternoon.

Sources told ‘Headlines Today’ that militants hurled a grenade at Khwaja Bazar area at around 1 pm leaving a policeman injured while three readymade garment shops were damaged in the attack.

The injured policeman identified as Ashiq Hussain was taken to the hospital from where he was discharged after receiving first aid. His condition is said to be stable.

Sources said the window dressing of three readymade garment shops were completely destroyed in the incident, however, no loss of life, injury or any damage to the property was reported.

Meanwhile, a joint team of police and CRPF cordoned off the entire area and started searches to nab the assailants.

The attack comes seven days after a policeman lost his life and four others sustained injuries when militants lobbed a grenade in Nishat Park in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
