Hyderabad: City-based Midhani, a government of India enterprise, will supply armoured vehicles to Jammu and Kashmir police. These vehicles will not only ensure enhanced protection against attacks, but ut also provide foolproof security to VVIPs visiting the state.
Midhani chairman and managing director SK Jha said the upgraded armoured vehicle will have all the latest international security standards. "The emerging situation calls for higher protection which can be provided with technology and materials that we have," he said.
Initial discussions have already taken place between Midhani officials and the top brass of J&K police. Midhani has an ararmouredroducts manufacturing plant at Rohtak in Harayana and J&K DGP Dilbag Singh visited the place.
Midhani will manufacture at least 60 such vehicles for J&K police. A customized vehicle will first be shown to police 'free of cost' after which more such ararmouredehicles will be supplied.
"It is not just about quality. The material design itself will change. If a bullet is fired with high energy and high type of penetration, we need a system to stop it. For this, the quality of material that is required should be different and suitable, which Midhani can provide," Jha said. Kashmir police were already using armoured vehicles delivered by Midhani in the past, Jha recalled.
It was felt that police should have armoured vehicles with the highest level of protection. J&K police are concerned about providing fool-proof security to VVIPs visiting the state, and for this, Midhani has developed the armoury that can give cops the cutting edge in providing a protective cover.
