SPO on Naka Duty Dies After Hit by Vehicle in South Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed after allegedly being hit by an unknown vehicle in Mattan area in Anantnag district, officials said.
 
The officials told news agency Kashmir Scroll that an unknown vehicle hit the SPO while he was on naka duty at Bumzoo in Mattan area. 
 
"The policeman was immediately taken to GMC Anantnag, where he was declared as brought dead on arrival", the officials said. 
 
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Ganie.
 
Confirming it, a police official told Kashmir Scroll that they have taken cognisance of the matter for further investigations. (KS)
