Poacher arrested with firearms in Bemina

 

Srinagar, Mar 07: A joint team of the Forest protection force and Central Wildlife Control Room Monday claimed to have apprehended a poacher and recovered firearms from his possession in the Bemina area of Srinagar.

A spokesperson said that on specific information Forest Protection Force Gamma unit (K-01) Srinagar along with Central Wildlife control room officials raided sector 12/14 Khumani chowk area of Bemina here this morning.

During the raid one Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat of Bemina, Mohalla Kamal Bhat Khumani Chowk was found shooting at migratory birds, he said.

The spokesman further said sa single barrel bore gun, three live cartridges and a knife was recovered from his possession.

Application for FIR against the accused has been lodged in police station Bemina and investigations have been taken up under Wildlife Protection Act, he added.
