Off duty CRPF trooper shot dead in Shopian

Srinagar, Mar 12:  Militants shot dead an off duty paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel at Check Chotipora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district this evening, police said.

Militants fired upon Mukhtar Ahmad Doie son of Mohammad Jamal Din Doie, leaving him critically injured.

He was shifted to hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival. Mukhtar had returned home on leave recently.

The killing comes on the heels of the killing of two Sarpanchs in the Kulgam and Srinagar districts. Meanwhile, security forces cordoned off the entire area to nab the assailants.
