Srinagar, March 16: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a fraudster in Srinagar who was allegedly collecting money from the public for issuing digital door number plates under the Srinagar Smart city Project.
Police station Bemina received a written complaint from project manager GeoVista Technologies Pvt Ltd stating that the firm has been assigned the task of conducting door to door survey to facilitate Digital door numbering plates to individual households in Srinagar city.
However it came to their notice that some fraudsters are collecting Rs 100 from households for issuing the said Digital number plates.
They said the agency has not authorized any individual to collect money as the project is free of cost and this mischief is being done to disrepute their company and Srinagar smart City project etc.
On receipt of this complaint a case was registered at Police station Bemina and investigation was started.
During the course of investigation, the police team succeeded in identifying the main accused, identified as Munawar Rashid Khushoo, son of Rashid Ahmad Khushoo Resident of Firdous colony Bemina who has been arrested in the instant case.
More arrests in the case are expected, the police said.
