Directorate of Extension, SKUAST- K Held Awareness Program for Farmers Under NMAET

Srinagar,Feb,28: A one-day awareness program was organized at the Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K), under the National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology (NMAET). The event aimed to empower farmers through the Atma Samarthya Yojana (ATMA), promoting self-reliance in agriculture.
Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Director of Extension, highlighted the significance of seed production at the farmer level to reduce dependence on external sources. "Encouraging local seed multiplication will enhance self-sufficiency and sustainability," she emphasized.
Farmers from Sopore Sub- district, along with scientists and agricultural officers, actively participated in discussions on seed quality, production techniques, and crop management. The program provided valuable insights to help farmers adopt better agricultural practices.
This initiative underscores SKUAST-K’s commitment to strengthening Kashmir’s agricultural sector by equipping farmers with essential knowledge and skills for improved productivity.
