Injured in grenade blast, girl dies at SMHS, toll reaches 2

Srinagar, March 7: A 19-year-old girl, who was injured in a grenade blast at crowded Amirakdal market last evening, succumbed to injuries on Monday, taking the death toll in the incident to two, officials said.

Rafiya Nazir daughter of Nazir Ahmad Tinda of Dargah Hazratbal area of the city, succumbed to the injuries at the SMHS hospital this morning.

"She had suffered injuries on her head and succumbed at around 8 am," the officials said.

A 70-year-old man identified as Mohammad Aslam Makhdoomi of Makhdoom Sahab area of Nowhatta in the old city here died on Sunday while 33 others, including a cop, were injured in the blast that took place in the busy market.

Confirming the death of young girl, Medical Superintendent, Sri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital, Dr Kanwaljeet Singh while confirming the death of the young girl said she had suffered injuries on her head and succumbed at around 8 am.
