Srinagar, Mar 11: Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to trace two boys who went missing from Raj Bagh in Kathua district, even as senior officials assured their families of all possible efforts to locate them.
DIG Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range Shiv Kumar Sharma visited Raj Bagh and Marheen, where he met the families of the missing boys—Deenu (15) and Rehmat Ali (12)—and assured them that the police were working relentlessly on the case. DySP Border Dheeraj Katoch and SHO Raj Bagh Ajay Chib accompanied him.
The boys had gone for cattle grazing near Bhamberwan Goat Farm but never returned home. Their worried families reported the matter to Police Station Raj Bagh, submitting a written complaint. Acting on the report, police registered a formal case and started an investigation.
DIG Sharma directed officials to coordinate with police in Punjab, Jammu, and Udhampur to gather any possible leads. He also ordered the formation of dedicated search teams and the circulation of the boys’ photographs to expedite their recovery.
The disappearance of the two minors comes just days after three locals were found dead in a deep gorge in the Billawar area, raising concerns among the residents. Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that might assist in tracing the missing boys. [KNT]
