BJP Hurting People Of J&K By Not Restoring Statehood: Rajesh Gupta

HT NEWS DESK

Srinagar, Feb 03,: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) senior leader Rajesh Gupta today demanded immediate restoration of Statehood to J&K.

Addressing media persons, he said, “The Modi government gave its handpicked administrator more powers, further shrinking the scope of the elected Government. He said it is beyond my knowledge why BJP is so adamant and against the masses of J&K who are deprived of many opportunities without their fault. BJP is directly hurting the masses, Gupta added.

Gupta further said, people of J&K overwhelmingly demand early restoration of statehood, but the BJP is placing its “vested political interests” above the welfare of the masses.

Gupta took a dig at the local administration saying “non-locals are running Jammu and Kashmir”.

“J&K economy was worst impacted and developments came to a standstill here after the abrogation of Article 370 from J&K but BJP continued with coercive apparatus to silence those who raised voice for justice,” he said. (ANB)
