Pensioners’ Federation Holds Welfare Meet in Handwara, Urges Release of Pending Liabilities

Handwara,Apr,12:The All Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners, Senior Citizens Welfare Federation and Civil Society, affiliated with the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) New Delhi and the All India State Pensioners Federation, organized a day-long programme at Dak Bungalow, Handwara.

 

The event was presided over by State President Nassar Ali Mir and General Secretary Mohd Ashrif Mir, with active participation from senior executive members including Gh. Nabi Khanyari, and district presidents from Baramulla and Bandipora. Block presidents from various parts of Kupwara district—including Shabir Ahmad, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, and Mir Gh. Rasool—were also in attendance, along with over 150 core members.

 

The programme focused on the welfare, rights, and pending issues of pensioners and senior citizens in the region. Federation leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the late Sampat Prakash, vowing to continue the struggle for justice and dignity for pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

In a joint appeal, the Federation heads urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to release all pending liabilities of pensioners without further delay. They also called on the elected government to regularize the services of 60,000 casual labourers and daily wagers who have long awaited justice.

 

Meanwhile, the Federation expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of two young students in a recent bus accident in Handwara. The members offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
