Baramulla, Aug 02 : Body of a 38-year-old man was retrieved from river Jehlum under mysterious circumstances from Khanpora area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday after two days.
Officials told the news agency that the body of the man, identified as Aejaz Ahmad Pandit, resident of Khawaja Bagh was retrieved from river Jhelum at Khanpora Baramulla locality today afternoon.
After performing the autopsy the body was handed over to the family. The post-mortem will ascertain the actual cause of death.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased held a protest demonstration, alleging that Aejaz was murdered and thrown into river Jhelum during night hours.
They demanded justice and action against “culprits” involved in the crime.
Meanwhile, an official said that Baramulla police have taken cognisance of the matter and have registered a case in this regard.
He said that further investigation has also been taken up.
