Kupwara, Feb,01: In A significant literary milestone, Shabnam Manzoor, a budding writer from Gundimanchher, Lolab, in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, has authored Kashmir: The Chronicle of Time, a book that captures the untold stories of her homeland. Overcoming numerous challenges with determination and the unwavering support of her parents and elder sister, Shabnam has brought her vision to life.
Currently pursuing her graduation at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, while preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, Shabnam’s journey is a testament to perseverance and resilience. Her love for literature began at a young age, and she soon realized that writing was not just a passion but a powerful medium to reflect the realities of Kashmir’s history, struggles, and strength.
Speaking about her book to HEADLINES TODAY,Shabnam shared, "Kashmir has always been a land of stories—some told, some buried, and some waiting to be discovered. Through this book, I wanted to give voice to the unheard narratives of my people."
Coming from a middle-class background, Shabnam faced financial and societal challenges in her journey as a writer. However, she remained steadfast in her dream. "In our society, writing is often seen as an unrealistic career path. But I believe passion and perseverance can break any barriers," she emphasized.
With Kashmir: The Chronicle of Time, Shabnam aims to provide readers with an insight beyond mainstream narratives, offering a deeply personal and historical perspective on Kashmir. She also hopes to inspire aspiring writers, especially those from modest backgrounds, to chase their dreams despite societal hurdles.
"My journey may have been tough, but if even one person finds inspiration in my story, I will consider it a success," she said.
This book marks just the beginning of Shabnam Manzoor’s literary journey, as she continues to write, speak, and advocate for the truth through her words.
