Police Investigate Suspected Grenade Attack Near Police Post in Baramulla

Srinagar, Mar 5: Police have started an investigation into a suspected grenade attack near the Police Post Old Town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Wednesday.

 

According to police sources, a loud blast was heard at around 9:20 PM on the intervening night of March 4-5, triggering panic among residents. Following the incident, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area in coordination with other agencies.

 

During the subsequent search operation, a grenade pin was discovered outside the boundary wall at the rear of the police post around 10:20 PM. Based on this finding, authorities suspect that an attempted grenade attack took place.

 

Officials confirmed that the grenade detonated inside the premises of the police post but in an area where no casualties or damage were reported. However, the impact crater has yet to be located.

 

Security forces remain on high alert, and investigations are underway to determine the identity of those responsible for the suspected attack. [KNT]
