Rodents Found in Street Food Oil at Hazratbal, Officials Take Serious Note

Street vendor challaned, three more violators penalized; strict action will follow; We warn all those who do not maintain hygiene, says Food and Safety official

Srinagar, Jan 31: Rodents were found in oil used for street food on the auspicious occasion of Friday following Mehraj-ul-Alam (SAW) at Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar, while officials took action against violators. 

 

A video showing rodents in oil used for street food, commonly known as Monji Gool, has gone viral on social media, raising concerns about unhygienic food. 

 

Soon after the video surfaced, the Food and Safety Department rushed to the spot and challaned the street vendor. 

 

An official from the Food and Safety Department, while speaking to media persons, said, "We were already inspecting the area and directing vendors to maintain hygienic food and proper maintenance." 

 

"But unfortunately, today, a video went viral showing rodents in street food oil. We reached the spot and challaned the vendor. Additionally, three more violators among street vendors were challaned, and strict action will follow," he said. 

 

"We warn all those who do not maintain hygiene and request everyone to ensure proper hygiene," the official added. (JKNS)
