Handwara,Apr,17: In A proactive measure to prevent the misuse of SIM cards and strengthen public safety, Handwara Police on Thursday carried out a comprehensive inspection of SIM card vendors across the district.
The inspection drive focused on enforcing strict adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and verifying the authenticity of documentation provided during SIM issuance. Police teams visited multiple outlets to ensure that vendors were complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.
A police Officer emphasized that SIM vendors play a vital role in securing communication networks and must operate responsibly. “Any lapse in following KYC procedures can have serious security implications. Violators will face legal action, including fines, cancellation of licenses, and prosecution,” the Officer said.
The police also urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities involving SIM cards or unauthorized sales. The ongoing drive is part of a broader initiative to enhance community safety and prevent the misuse of digital communication channels.
