Theft at Guloora Langate: Horticulture and RDD Offices Targeted, Equipment Worth Lakhs Stolen

Langate, Jan,23:-A string of thefts has unsettled the residents of Langate and nearby areas, with robbers striking two government offices in Guloora village during the midnight hours of January 21/22. The targeted departments—Horticulture and Rural Development Department (RDD)—suffered losses worth several lakhs, leaving locals distressed and raising concerns about security in the region.

According to residents, the thieves used blades to cut the main locks of the government offices and made off with electronic equipment. Speaking to Headlines Today, a local official from the Horticulture Department stated, "As per our early morning report, thieves stole four stabilizers from our store—three 5KV and one 3KV unit. Three of these were fresh and intended for installation at Kultoora Horticulture Nursery and Guloora."

The official added, "We have filed an investigation application at the Langate Police Post, and the authorities are taking the matter seriously."

Similarly, an official from the RDD department confirmed that the Panchayat Ghar in Guloora was also targeted the same night. "The locks of the building were found cut in the morning. Thieves absconded with four inverter solar batteries," the official stated.

Local residents reported that this was not an isolated incident. A few days ago, thieves also stole a solar light installed near Guloora’s graveyard, further compounding their concerns.

The authorities have assured the public that they are actively investigating the theft incidents in Guloora village. Offices from Handwara police have stated that all necessary measures have already been implemented to address the case, including registering an FIR, conducting on-site investigations, and involving locals in the inquiry process. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits, with a commitment to ensuring justice is served promptly. We urge the public to come forward with any information about the incidents and can contact us at 7051404222 or 7051404206."

Locals expressed gratitude to SSP Handwara, as well as the SDPO and SHO Handwara for their swift response and cooperation. They remain optimistic that the perpetrators will be caught soon.
