Three member committee to inquire allegations of ‘misbehavior’ at SKIMS

Srinagar, Feb 15: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura constituted a three member committee to look into the allegations of pugnacious behavior of a nurse in Radio oncology ward of State Cancer Centre, a senior official of SKIMS said on Tuesday.

According to the official, the committee has been asked to submit the report in three days.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Farooq Jan said he did not receive any formal complaint so far but certain allegations have been doing rounds on social media, so a three member committee have been constituted to look into the matter.

"A consultant, an assistant medical superintendent and a nursing supervisor will look into these allegations and submit a report in three days", he added.

As per a formal complaint filed by an attendant of a critically ill cancer patient, a nurse on duty during preceding night allegedly created a scene, used "abusive" language in the Radio Oncology Unit

"The nurse on duty was requested to help administer some drug to the critically ill patient, who was writhing in pain. They called her to the bed where she started screaming and using a filthy language to the annoyance of every patient and attendant in the ward shouting at the top of her voice that this (helping the attendants in administering a drug or use a medicament) was not in her duties," the complainant stated.

"The pugnacious nurse did not care even for the docs (doctors) on duty who tried to intervene. I as a responsible citizen of the UT appeal to your good self to have the incident inquired properly through a team of seasoned officers and remove the intemperate and ffoul-mouthednurse from the sensitive duty of attending the terminally ill patients," it added.
