Pulwama, Feb 01: Rambi Ara, a lifeline for thousands, is facing an unprecedented ecological disaster due to rampant illegal mining. The unchecked extraction of resources has triggered massive protests, with furious residents demanding an immediate shutdown of operations by NKC, the company accused of devastating the region.
The crisis has reached a boiling point as locals, environmentalists, and activists unite against the reckless exploitation of Rambi Ara. Protesters, chanting slogans, accused authorities of turning a blind eye to the blatant destruction of their land, aras, and livelihoods.
In response to the escalating unrest, Rajpora’s Member of Assembly, Gh Mohi-ud-Din Mir, visited the site to assess the large-scale destruction firsthand. Expressing grave concern, he assured the protesters that he would escalate the matter to top officials to ensure immediate action against illegal mining.
"The reckless mining has wreaked havoc on Rambi Ara. We will not allow this devastation to continue,” declared one of the angry demonstrators.
Despite repeated pleas for intervention, authorities have yet to take concrete steps, further fueling public outrage. Protesters blame government inaction for the crisis, warning that continued neglect could lead to irreversible environmental damage and the displacement of local communities.
People warn that if illegal mining is not curbed immediately, Rambi Ara could face severe ecological collapse, including soil erosion, water contamination, and loss of biodiversity. The region, known for its rich natural resources, is now on the verge of destruction due to relentless greed and negligence.
