Jammu Jan 3: Traffic in upper Narwal areas has turned life of a commoner into a virtual hell. Wrong parking on both sides of main road in this said area particularly Mecca Maajid Bhathindi, Vidata Nagar, Bhathindi mode, Nawabad, Malik Market and Sunjiwan has left little space for the regular traffic to ply smoothly. Although few traffic police personnel have been assigned job of regulating traffic in the area, however it seems humanly impossible for them to control the huge area.
"I had to spend almost two hours to drive for few meters from Mecca Masjid to Narwal Bypass" said Kamraan Ali while talking to this Reporter. He further added that Traffic Police is not acting hard on these offenders who park their vehicles on main road leaving bottle necks ever here and there, "This leads to heavy traffic jams all along these areas" added Kamran.
Hadiqa Ayoub a College Student complained of getting late to her college on regular basis because of terrible traffic congestion during peak hours. "My attendance at college is very low in the first class as I quit often miss the class, I humbly appeal the traffic police authorities to act stringtly on the violators so as to help us out of this said traffic scenario" added Hadiqa.
Although the preachers from Mosques (Imaams) appeal people to remove hindrances from roads, however no impact is felt on ground. Stressing upon the importance of roads in Islam one of the Imaams touched this topic in his Friday sermon as well, "It is among gravest of the Sins if we create hindrance in the smooth movement of traffic, I appeal the authorities to kindly look into the matter and put the house in order, as it is their responsibility to do so" added one of the Imam at Bhathindi.
Although Higher authorities of the traffic Department were not able to take the call however one of the Police Official controlling the traffic at the site said that we are on it and within a few days you can see the difference on ground.
Common masses of the area are expecting things to improve in the days to come. One of the senior citizen from Nawabad area said that traffic police authorities should act tough to put the mess in order. "Sooner the better sense prevails to help us out of this scenario" he added.
