Pakistani Terrorist Neutralized in Handwara Encounter: SSP Handwara

Handwara, Mar, 17: A Pakistani terrorist, identified as Saifullah, was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Rajwar area of Handwara on Monday, officials confirmed.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Choudhary, stated that based on specific intelligence inputs, a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in the Krumbhoora forest area of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district early Monday morning. As the search intensified, an armed confrontation ensued, leading to the elimination of the terrorist.

"The body of the slain terrorist has been recovered. An AK-47 rifle, grenades, and other ammunition were seized from his possession," SSP Choudhary informed the media. He added that Saifullah had been active in the forests of North Kashmir for the past two years, orchestrating terror-related activities in the region.

The operation was conducted jointly by 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Handwara Police. Security forces utilized specialized equipment to track and neutralize the terrorist in the dense forest terrain.

Even after the gunfight, security personnel continued search operations in the area till late evening to rule out the presence of any additional threats.

Officials have hailed the successful operation as a major setback to terror networks operating in the region, reaffirming the security forces' commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Kupwara district and across Kashmir.
