HRD Programme on Integrated Pest Management Held at KVK Kupwara

Kupwara, Feb 12: A Human Resource Development (HRD) Programme on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) was successfully conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kupwara. Organized by the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar, in collaboration with the State Agriculture Department and KVK Kupwara, the event aimed at promoting sustainable pest control practices among farmers and agricultural professionals.
Experts from CIPMC and KVK Kupwara delivered insightful sessions on eco-friendly pest management techniques. Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Arya, Deputy Director (PP), CIPMC Jammu, spoke on the safe and judicious use of pesticides, stressing responsible application methods. Dr. Haroon Rashid Hakla, APPO (PP), CIPMC Srinagar, introduced the NPSS Mobile App, a digital platform for plant protection. Sh. Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh, SMS (SDL), Kupwara, highlighted the benefits of organic farming, while Dr. Firdous Ahmed Raina, SMS (Plant Protection), elaborated on IPM strategies for sustainable agriculture.
The programme was presided over by Sh. Mukhtar Ahmed, DAO Kupwara, and the Head of KVK Kupwara Prof.Kaiser Mohiud-Din,who commended the initiative and urged farmers to adopt IPM techniques for improved crop health and productivity. Farmers and agricultural officers actively participated in the session, making it a fruitful knowledge-sharing experience.
