NIA Raids Key Locations Linked to Militant Attack on Migrant Workers

HT NEWS DESK

Srinagar, Jan 28 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a series of raids across multiple locations in Kashmir on Tuesday morning as part of its probe into a militant conspiracy case.

The operations took place in Srinagar, Sopore, and Budgam, focusing on links to the February 7, 2024, killing of two migrant workers from Punjab in Srinagar’s Shalla Kadal area. Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masih were fatally attacked by militants associated with The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Following the incident, the NIA filed a chargesheet in August 2024, naming four individuals, including Adil Manzoor Langoo, who allegedly shot the victims. Singh died instantly, while Masih succumbed to his injuries the next day. Others named in the chargesheet include Ahran Rasool Dar alias Tota, Dawood, and their Pakistan-based handler, Jahangeer alias Peer Sahab.

As part of the investigation, raids were carried out at the residence of a business family in Srinagar with ties to Sopore, as well as two other locations in Sopore.[KNT]
